Strong solar radiation can be uncomfortable indoors, shining on computer and TV screens, and affecting the indoor climate and, temperature. Strong sunlight can also discoloured or fade flooring, carpets, curtains and furniture.
Sun shading controlled by smartphone or tablet
Extensive use of glass in modern buildings makes electrical cooling or sun shading a necessity. Sun shading is far more cost-effective than cooling systems and for large windows, sun shading solutions are very popular. Shading must be fast and easy to manage, preferably by remote control.
Eaton’s xComfort control system can be used together with most of the sun shading solutions in the market. Blinds, awnings and louvers can all be remotely controlled with an iPad, iPhone or Android smartphone.
Controlling the view with a keystroke
When Dianosh Dinparvar was going to move into Tjuvholmen allé overlooking the Oslo Fjord, he wanted a solution to enable him to easily control the sunlight radiating through the glass walls of his flat.
“I needed a simple and functional system to control the blinds. With such large glass surfaces in several places in the flat, it’s useful to be able to control sun shading in a simple way. And, I am never more than a keystroke away from the excellent view,” says Dinparvar, more than satisfied with his xComfort solution.
Blinds, light, heating and fireplace all on one system
In addition to controlling the blinds it was important for Dinparvar that the system could simultaneously take care of lighting, heating, and other functions.
“I got it from the xComfort system from Eaton. I had no experience with power control systems before. Now I must admit that I can’t be without it,” says Dinparvar.
With xComfort from Eaton, lighting, heating, the fireplace and blinds can be controlled by switches, tablet and mobile.
“I can control the entire house with a few keystrokes, from any room. It is such an unimaginable comfort that I hardly think that you understand its importance unless you experience it,” says Dinparvar.
Future solution
Øystein Kolberg is the Marketing Manager at Eaton Norway and for the xComfort system. He believes xComfort is the future.
“The cost of the control system is much lower than people think and I would say that it is only a matter of time before xComfort becomes a common feature in most homes. In addition to providing greater comfort in everyday life, it increases the resale value of your house. I think more and more people will expect such solutions when they buy new houses,” says Kolberg.
